Seaton Hackney Stables has revamped and revised our former SHS Mobile Team into a SHS Equestrian Team, under the leadership of our advanced riding instructors. New horses have just arrived for the purpose of helping our riders advance on the show circuit. Riders are invited to join the SHS Equestrian Team for our Fall, Winter, and Spring show seasons. Six+ off-site shows are scheduled for each season. Members will be invited to attend our Awards Receptions to honor those riders who demonstrated the most improvement, best in show, and most dedicated at a variety of levels.

On Course Horse Show: March 29, 2014
On Saturday, March 29th, four riders from Seaton Hackney Stables competed at the On Course Riding Academy Horse Show, the second in their 2014 season. As usual, local show barns came out to get ready for the show season and the competition was fierce! Seaton Hackney performed well under the tutelage of trainer Jenna Massarelli! Julia Karski rode Pokie in Short Stirrup Equitation, receiving two sevenths and one eighth out of ten riders. Whitney Gordon aboard Summer Rain rode in the same division, earning one seventh place and two eighth places. Emily Kessel earned Reserve Champion in the Beginner Rider division and Kim Schey aboard Summer Rain rode to a second place and two thirds in the same division. It was a long day in the rain, but the show was a great experience and all had a wonderful time. Great job to our four riders and a big thank you to those show parents who came out to support! Our next scheduled show is a month and half away, again at On Course Riding Academy on Saturday, May 17th. A great opportunity, especially for first timers, to experience the show scene at a smaller, but still very competitive, horse show!

On Course Riding Academy Horse Show #2
On February 22nd, Seaton Hackney attended the On Course Riding Academy Horse Show. The competition was fierce, but Seaton Hackney performed well under the tutelage of their trainer on duty, Jenna! Whitney Gordon did great riding Pumba, receiving three third place and one fourth place ribbons in the Mini-Stirrup division. Elizabeth Twentyman and Hokus Pokus received two third place and two fourth place ribbons in the Short Stirrup Equitation division. Julia Karski, in her first horse show away from Seaton Hackney Stables, placed third and fourth with Pumba, and then second and fifth over fences with Hokus Pokus in the Short Stirrup Equitation division. The show was a great experience and all had a wonderful time. “Great job” to the riders and a big thank you to the “show parents” who came out and supported!
Our next show is just 12 days away, Seaton Hackney’s own schooling show on Saturday, March 8th. A great opportunity, especially for first timers, to experience the show scene without the pressures inherent to any away-from-home activity. If you have not yet registered, please do so here. Our next away shows are March 16th at NJEC and March 29th at On Course. Please e-mail us for additional information on any of our upcoming horse shows.
The SHS Equestrian Team
In 2008 Seaton Hackney started to take several of its more advanced riders that so desired to off-site horse shows and exhibitions. That year, several of our young riders put Seaton Hackney and its Trainers on the “Equestrian Map” as they brought home numerous Championship and Reserve-Championship ribbons. Since that time, at the request of both our riders and their parents, Seaton Hackney Stables created a Traveling Show Team, incepted in 2009. Just like with an Intercollegiate Team, these riders adhere to a strict code of conduct, establish themselves as role models for their peers and travel around the State to compete in equestrian events under the leadership of Seaton Hackney Stables Senior Instructors.
Many of our riders consistently place as Champions and Grand Champions within their Divisions. Currently, the Traveling Show Team consists of about 25 riders who compete throughout the year, representing Seaton Hackney Stables and proudly wearing its embroidered apparel.
We want to congratulate our Show Team Members and their Trainers for their recent achievements. Our appreciation also goes to their parents, the “Show Moms and Show Dads”, who always provide their enthusiastic support not just to their own children but to all the participating riders as a Team!
